    Someone’s in the Kitchen…

    By kaizerin | March 14, 2010

We had quite the culinary adventure today, my darling and I. Our green-thumb neighbor gave us a large bunch of wonderfully fragrant rosemary (and invited us to feel free to cut more whenever we liked–nice neighbor!), so we decided to make a herb-encrusted roast. We bought a 2-pound carton of French beans last weekend, which I thought would be lovely sauteed with some mushrooms and onions. And of course, today is Pi Day, so we planned to make apple pie–or, as it turned out, apple tartlets. Our day in food, in pictures:

A dozen tartlets ready for the oven.

    Steaming hot tartlets here!

A close-up of the bubbly goodness.

Once the tarts were out of the oven and cooling, it was time for the roast.

Onions are a savory alternative to a roasting rack.

The green goo is rosemary, garlic, olive oil, and peppercorns all whizzed together.

    Slathered with flavor!

All that work (two dishwasher loads!) paid off:

I call this the magazine shot.

    And finally, dessert!

What a feast! I don’t know what it is about this time of year — maybe the pending season of growth — but I just want to be in the kitchen all the time. I am so looking forward to the farmer’s market starting up again in just a little more than a month now!
