  • kaizerinThe Countess Z has been reading for as long as she can remember, and was regularly tearing through her favorite Dr. Suess books long before she entered Kindergarten. Once, she asked her mother who it was that had taught her to read and was told that people read to her a lot and she just “picked it up.” She was destined to be an English major from the start.

In third grade she tested out at a high school reading level. Having quickly outgrown the meager selection of her school library, she began a lifelong love affair with the public library system that continues to this day. The Countess Z recently relocated to Portland, OR with her charming husband, their ever-expanding library, and T.S. Eliot (poodle and cuddlebug extraordinaire). She figures that in a city with more bookstores per capita than any other, her days of wandering are finally over. She has found her home.

kaizerinKaizerin was fortunate to be born to parents who placed a high value on reading. With a father who taught English, speech, and debate, and a mother who wrote for the local paper, she’s what you might call a Natural-Born Stickler for correct grammar and usage. With her, it’s always worth the time to proof before you post””she might not correct your errors, but she will let them color her opinion of what you’ve written.

Kaizerin lives in domestic bliss in beautiful Portland, Oregon, with her partner of 6 years and a fuzzy old grey cat. She reads, she knits, she travels when she gets the chance, she does yard work when the weather permits, and stays in to drink tea when it doesn’t. (Oh dear, she has just realized she’s gone middle-aged ten years early.)
